Materials

Energy-efficient glazing options.

 

Double or triple glazing. External timber or aluminium. Painted timber interior.

 

VELFAC windows, patio doors and sliding doors are made of durable materials that require a minimum of maintenance. We are careful in the selection of suppliers and in the requirements we place on the materials. These are all the cornerstones of a quality product.

VELFAC Classic with aluminium exterior

Aluminium exterior for long-lasting performance

 

The aluminium-clad exterior is highly durable and requires very little maintenance over its lifespan, making it well suited to the UK climate.

With aluminium on the outside, there is no need for external repainting. Ongoing maintenance is limited to cleaning and occasional lubrication of moving parts.

 

Benefits of triple glazing

 

  • Improved thermal insulation to help reduce heat loss

  • A more comfortable indoor environment with fewer cold spots near the window

  • Reduced draughts

  • Lower risk of overheating in summer when specified appropriately

 

Double glazing

Double glazing is also available, making it suitable for applications such as holiday homes, garages, sheds and other unheated spaces.

 

Insulating cavities

Standard glazing units contain cavities between the panes filled with argon gas. Argon is a naturally occurring, inert gas that improves thermal insulation and helps reduce heat loss through the window..

FSC-certified® wood

VELFAC uses FSC-certified® timber, helping to support responsible forest management and high environmental, social and economic standards in the sourcing of wood products.

Timber exterior for a more traditional appearance

The frames and mullions are made from FSC-certified® pine sourced from northern European forests. The timber is laminated and finger-jointed to improve stability and make efficient use of the raw material. At least 60% heartwood is used on fully or partially exposed external surfaces.

VELFAC Classic – Single patio door

Perfect for energy-efficient renovation of traditional homes or for new builds with a heritage style. The door mirrors the construction of the VELFAC Classic window range and is available in wood/aluminium or all-timber versions. Visible hinges are a hallmark of the design, and glazing bars can be added as desired.

VELFAC Classic – Double patio door

The double door opens up to 90°, or up to 180° with an alternative hinge system (where installation allows). At 180°, the door opens flush against the wall, though this configuration cannot support a lever-operated brake. Available with or without glazing bars.
