Harrowdene Road, London
‘The development was originally meant to be our family home and so we wanted to specify the best,’ explains Harrow Property Developer Project Manager Rajpal Singh, ‘but when it came to sourcing windows, finding the ideal product proved to be a challenge. We liked aluminium frames, but not internally for a home – we preferred wood, but knew it came with maintenance costs. When we discovered the VELFAC system it was the ideal solution – hard wearing externally but with an inner timber frame which we could finish in brilliant white, satinwood paint. We also liked the slim frame profile which brings in more light.’
As family plans changed, the project transformed into a commercial venture and the reasons for specifying VELFAC became increasingly compelling, says Rajpal: ‘VELFAC is a well-known company, which for us is very reassuring, and we were also impressed by the 12-year warranty on window units, a guarantee which covers all parts – not just some. If repairs are required, every window carries a unique serial number which makes the process very straightforward. In addition, the thermal performance of the composite VELFAC frame meant we could easily meet the local council’s energy requirements.’
At Harrowdene Road, a range of VELFAC window shapes and sizes has been installed, including a stylish, diamond-shaped unit installed at the apex of the semi-detached home. The square-build apartment block also features large patio doors on the inset upper floors, providing additional light and access to large terraces. All exterior aluminium frames, and entrance doors, are finished in anthracite grey, creating a dramatic contrast with the distinctive pale yellow brick facades – the finishing touch to this well-designed and high quality development.
