Cresswell Close, Impington, Cambridge
Each home mixes modern and traditional architecture, and features generous VELFAC glazing throughout. Large punch-hole windows are feature of every façade, together with bay windows, extensive patio doors, and VELFAC side access doors.
Adding significant kerb appeal, however, are the impressive, glazed screens installed around VELFAC front doors, illuminating stairwells and adding real architectural impact. Some screens rise the full height of the house, up into the pitched roof, with others incorporating VELFAC panels to conceal floor plates.
The slim aluminium / timber VELFAC frame is finished externally in dark grey, adding a further element to an exterior design featuring multi-coloured brickwork and dark cedar cladding. Interior pine frames are finished in white to blend seamlessly with white painted walls.
John Webster, Managing Director of JP Webster Construction Ltd, is a long term VELFAC customer and worked closely with the VELFAC team on Cresswell Close, which was a speculative build for the company. ‘We specified VELFAC because of its reputation as a quality product at a competitive price,’ says John. ‘Although the houses look striking, the specification wasn’t complicated and we could meet our design and performance targets with standard VELFAC units.’
Cresswell Close clearly demonstrates how VELFAC can add a visible difference to plot by plot housing projects, delivering both architectural interest and consistency to create coherent developments which emphasise finish and performance. The houses were completed in 2016 and sold almost as soon as they came to market.
