VELFAC windows and patio doors are installed in all 52 apartments at Perigon Heights to ensure maximum natural light, optimum thermal and acoustic insulation, and some stunning views from what is now one of Bromley’s tallest buildings.
'Our go to supplier'
‘VELFAC is our ‘go to supplier’ when it comes to glazing,’ says Purelake Construction Director Noel Convert. ‘We have built an excellent relationship with VELFAC and have installed the VELFAC system in a number of projects. We have always been impressed by the quality of the product and the level of technical support, and we also know that VELFAC windows and doors are very durable. Over the years we have had very little comeback from our tenants or purchasers relating to defects or faults, which is vital for our business.’ Speaking about the project, architect Chris Colyer adds: ‘Once again we are delighted to have the ECE name associated with a successful development and such a reputable product.’
Floor to ceiling windows
At Perigon Heights, floor to ceiling VELFAC windows bring light and air into bedrooms and living spaces, together with hinged, glazed patio doors opening onto balconies. Internal timber window frames are painted pure white (RAL 9010), a ‘neutral’ finish ideal for the rental market says Noel. Externally, the large VELFAC windows add impact to the multi-height building, with the dark grey (RAL 7016) ultra-slim frame ‘disappearing’ into facades finished in red brick, buff stone and turquoise cladding.
As well as complementing Perigon Height’s distinctive style, VELFAC design support was also key to project success says Noel: ‘We had our own dedicated VELFAC designer who worked closely with ECE Architecture and produced drawings for every single window and door. This level of detail ensured a perfect fit on installation, significantly minimising problems and saving time when the windows arrived on site. In addition, the VELFAC team ensured all glazing installed met the energy and noise control targets identified in our reports, and according to the requirements of our local planning committee. As a result, we were able to install a mix of double and triple glazing across the project, with performance tailored to the individual facade.’
Despite the challenges of Covid-19, Perigon Heights was built to schedule, launched on time in November 2020, and welcomed its first residents in January 2021.
