Enhancing modern townhouses with stunning views

Described as ‘light-filled modern townhouses,’ each property features VELFAC aluminium/timber triple-glazed windows, patio doors and bi-parting doors, with the VELFAC slim frame design used to enhance stunning seaside views. The system also delivers the exceptional levels of weather protection required by the cliff-top location, where the façade is frequently exposed to salt-laden high winds and driven rain.

‘Quality is an important element of all our developments, and the VELFAC system is recognised as a quality product,’ says Dave Gittins, Head of Construction for Acorn Property Group’s Bristol Region. ‘We had already used VELFAC products in an earlier development, so we were familiar with the system and its benefits. Given the location and orientation of Marine Place, we also wanted a window system which had been formally tested to withstand exposure to severe weather conditions, including strong wind speeds and loads - and VELFAC could give us the test evidence we needed.’

Seamless integration and superior performance

To make the most of the wonderful views from the development’s cliff-top location, the Acorn team installed large VELFAC windows on all four floors at Marine Place, including bi-parting glazed doors opening onto sea-facing balconies, and eye-catching, roof-level glazed screens featuring triangular gable windows. Frame colours were deliberately chosen to enhance the design palette of the finished homes, explains Dave: ‘Internally, we specified a white paint finish to allow the timber VELFAC frame to blend seamlessly with the white interior décor. Externally, the aluminium frame is painted dark grey to tie in with a facade featuring sandstone, white render, glass balustrades and slate roofs.’

At Marine Place, the VELFAC system meets a demanding brief without compromising the distinctive composite frame design. Each triple glazed unit retains identical sightlines, and the slim VELFAC frame enhances the seafront panorama while also delivering guaranteed performance levels for the lifetime of the installation.
