Case stories

Find inspiration for your own projects

Every year, VELFAC windows and doors are installed in a large number of projects both in UK and Scandinavian countries. We have collected some of the most ambitious case stories, with commentary from architects and specifier on their experience with VELFAC and why our window system was chosen to complement their projects.

Acoustic control: Meeting challenging performance criteria

Dalston Lane, by architects Waugh Thistleton, comprises 121 apartments over ten storeys. Excellent acoustic control was a priority as the site is surrounded by transport routes, including a railway line.

Indoor climate: Increasing natural light and improving ventilation.

The VELFAC system has helped architect Corrie Rounding , of architects Innes Associates,  meet challenging regulatory and sustainability targets while maximising usable space, increasing natural light and improving ventilation.

Design and function: A distinctive local landmark

At Falmouth University’s ground-breaking "Launchpad Building" designed by architects BDP, VELFAC glazing is installed across the whole development. The large glazed facades create a highly distinctive local landmark, especially at night, while also increasing daylighting throughout the open plan interior.

Energy optimization: From old and sub-standard to stylish and energy efficient

Refurbished by d+b facades, Wellington Close shows how innovative cladding, together with VELFAC composite windows, can transform old and sub-standard homes into energy efficient, stylish and desirable places to live.

Sustainable construction: Our ‘go to’ composite glazing brand

At the Didsbury, in London’s East Ham, every apartment features a combination of VELFAC windows and patio doors.

‘The VELFAC system offers a good cost to quality ratio, and the frame design results in low embodied carbon, primarily due to the percentage of recycled aluminium used.

- Findlay McFarlane, Architect at dRMM.
